Unable to login to Dynamics CRM, Error: ID3242

    We recently demoted our CMS from production to a development environment.

    Upon doing so we had to change the CRM connection and we did it through CRM Connection Settings via TPC Configuration.

    We pressed the test connection button and it'd say it tested successfully.  After a time of browsing the site our connection would go bad and we'd get this message in the TPC error logs:

    "Unable to login to Dynamics CRM, Error was : ID3242: The security token could not be authenticated or authorized.  ID3242: The security token could not be authenticated or authorized.Unable to Login to Dynamics CRM Unable to Login to Dynamics CRM"

    When we tried to test the connection again we'd get "String cannot be of zero length. Parameter name: oldValue" and we'd have to put in the password again to get a successful test.

    This repeatedly happened.

    We started checking the Default Connection through Settings -> Advanced -> Portal Connector -> CRM Connections -> Default connection when we entered the new password and before we tried to test it after we saw failures. We noticed that the password's encrypted value was changing from the time we put in the password and it tested successfully to the time it failed.

    Can you please provide insight into what may be happening.

    Hi Krishna,

    Do you know if there any network or firewall restrictions preventing the TPC configuration from establishing a connection with Dynamics CRM?

    Please ensure that the necessary ports are open and that the firewall allows communication between the Dev environment and the CRM.

    Hi Rawdon -

    We've had no infrastructure changes recently.

    The connection was able to work once - after we put it into the box and said "test connection".

    After testing the connection we're able to go see the encrypted value, we mark this in our memories.

    We browse our site and start having errors.  There's a couple of problems at this point.
    1) The encrypted value has changed
    2) When we try to test the connection we get  "String cannot be of zero length. Parameter name: oldValue"
    3) And in the logs we see "Unable to login to Dynamics CRM, Error was : ID3242: The security token could not be authenticated or authorized.  ID3242: The security token could not be authenticated or authorized.Unable to Login to Dynamics CRM Unable to Login to Dynamics CRM"

    Why would the encrypted value change for the password?  Once we save it the first time, what would cause the encrypted value to change?

    Why when we try to test the connection are we being told the string cannot be of zero length.  The password should be stored in the system.

    Sorry to hear you are experiencing these problems. 

    Have you checked to see if the credentials are incorrect or maybe expired security tokens?
