Hi PJ,
There are a few different ways to accomplish
transitioning your users between portals, but in any case, you will need
to register the users with TPC.
The recommended options are the Invite to
Portal or Manage Portal Roles options that can be applied to a list of contacts
in CRM. This makes it quite simple to send an invitation to the new portal. The
unique token in the email serves to verify the user’s address, but because
passwords are typically stored as encrypted hash, the user will need to enter a
new password to complete registration. The chosen password can be the same as
for the old portal, provided it meets minimum requirements.
If you don’t want to send an email to users,
then you will need to create a CRM process to register the users for the new
portal with a random password which would force them to reset it, A
link can be provided on the login page for first-time users from the old portal
to do this.
Finally, if you have implemented a compatible
OpenId Connect SSO integration on the old portal, such as Azure B2C, this
should allow the registration to be completed on the user’s first login.
Best,
Chris
