We use the PowerApps portal for one part of our business, we have TPC in other parts of the business. We want to replace the PowerApps portal with another TPC portal. We have a large number of registered users on PowerApps, already, and we are trying to determine if we can allow these registered users access to TPC without them having to physically register in TPC.  Thanks

    Hi PJ,

There are a few different ways to accomplish transitioning your users between portals, but in any case, you will need to register the users with TPC.

The recommended options are the Invite to Portal or Manage Portal Roles options that can be applied to a list of contacts in CRM. This makes it quite simple to send an invitation to the new portal. The unique token in the email serves to verify the user’s address, but because passwords are typically stored as encrypted hash, the user will need to enter a new password to complete registration. The chosen password can be the same as for the old portal, provided it meets minimum requirements.

If you don’t want to send an email to users, then you will need to create a CRM process to register the users for the new portal with a random password which would force them to reset it, A link can be provided on the login page for first-time users from the old portal to do this.

Finally, if you have implemented a compatible OpenId Connect SSO integration on the old portal, such as Azure B2C, this should allow the registration to be completed on the user’s first login.

    Best,
    Chris

If you have a list of contacts in CRM, you may invite them to the portal or manage their portal roles. So inviting people to the new gateway is a breeze. The email's unique token verifies the user's address, but a new password is still required to driving directions complete registration since passwords are often saved as encrypted hash. As long as it is secure enough, the selected password might be the same as the one used for the previous gateway.
