When I create a new form, all of the sudden the portal connector widgets aren't showing up in the right hand menu as options to add to the form. They still show up on all existing forms. I've tried rebooting the site/service.

    Thoughts?

    Hello Andrew,

Normally these widgets should not disappear once they are registered. To get them back a portal reinitialization is required.

If you are using some sort of website deployment tool like Azure, be sure that the configuration files in the AppData folder are up to date. The ToolboxConfig.config file contains the registrations for all of The Portal Connector widgets.

    Regards,
    Clinton

    Hi,
This doesn't seem to have worked. I experience no change in behavior after following the steps in the link you provided. Any other suggestions? This is becoming a fairly major blocking issue for us.

    Hi Andrew,

Could you tell me what version of Sitefinity you are using and whether you have Sitefinity Feather installed?

    Thanks,

Another piece of information: creating other artifacts (pages or whatever) behaves normally. I still get the TPC widgets for new items of other types.

Can I ask you to navigate to Administration --> Modules & Services, scroll down to the "Feather" item and tell me if it says "Active" or "Inactive" under its name?

    Thanks,
    Steve

There is currently a known issue with Sitefinity 8.2 with Feather active.

In Sitefinity 8.2 Feather introduced a new form builder based on MVC. Feather is a project that utilizes the MVC framework for developing templates and widgets.

If you are not using MVC for development you can safely deactivate the Feather module from the actions menu for the Feather item in the Modules & Services section.

If you are using MVC for development and require Feather to be active we are currently working on a hot fix and will keep you posted on progress.

    Thank you,
    Steve

    Hi Kuba,

Yes, this is resolved In subsequent versions of Sitefinity. If you are using a version of Sitefinity higher than 8.2 with The Portal Connector installed you will need to create a new form, when entering the form name open the advanced section and select "Web Forms Only". TPC currently only has support for forms based forms until the 4.0 release which will see a new set of MVC based widgets, expected in September.

    Thank you,
    Steve

Thanks Steve. I'll stick to webforms for the moment, and check back in a few months!

I have found a work around, use nested templates.

Create a Web Forms template (X) that extends on a MVC template (Y) . If you make a page for TPC forms bassed off template X you will have access to the TPC  layout widget. You then have template X to leverage MVC and Feather.
