I have a connection issue while configuring portal connector for on premise environment ,that does not configured for IFD .The error message is "could not connect using the connection string ..", all the possible combination failed.
as far I know  the connection type in this case should be  "Web Service" , but what is the expected URL of the webservice ? I thought it is CRM Organization service , but it does not work.
so is it custom webservice? or what it is exactly ? appreciate if you can provide more clarification how to configure CRM on premise not IFD.

    Hi Madonna,

My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I planned to email you directly after you joined our Q&A session last week, but noticed you posted here.

The Web Service connection is somewhat of a legacy system at this point. The web service acted as a proxy essentially, where the portal would connect to the web service, and the web service would handle communication to CRM. This web service has been deprecated with more recent versions.

The most basic requirement for the portal to connect to your CRM is that it is able to communicate with your CRM server over port 443. You should be able to manage connecting without setting up IFD if you allow communication on that port. In this case, you would still use the On Premise option for connecting to CRM.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,

    Patrick
